Suffolk Design Collective

Suffolk Design Collective

Back in February, Waypoint Planning joined the Suffolk Design Collective, with two of our team members, Jonny and Tomas, attending the Collective’s launch event last week at the University of Suffolk. The inclusion of our practice alongside other Collective members showcases our continued vision for outputting high-quality projects as per our motto, “better planning, better places.”

Suffolk Design was founded as a cross-authority partnership between the county’s Local Planning and County Authorities, looking to increase the skills and collaboration needed to achieve quality design across Suffolk’s built environment. Recently, the Collective was forged in aid of meeting these goals with the collaborative aid of private sector actors. In a wide-ranging scope of disciplines which includes architecture, landscape, urban design, housing developers, and placemakers, Waypoint Planning is proud to be part of the Collective’s fabric, bringing our expertise as a Suffolk-based planning consultancy to the conversation.

The event proved to be a source of motivation and enthusiasm within our team and the wider Collective. Discussions touched on improving standards of planning and design in the county, looking to champion Suffolk as a growing hub of quality in the built environment industry. A key take-away on the importance of the Collective came from Chris King, the organisation’s Chair, “meaningful change doesn’t happen in isolation”.

We would like to thank the organisers at Suffolk Design for hosting us, as well as the wider Collective for their enthusiasm as we look forward to providing valuable contributions to the future successes of the organisation.
