Harvest Safety

Rebecca Mahony - Wilson Wraight

With harvest 2018 now started, it would be mindful to think about safety. Despite the wettest start to the year for almost two decades, the East of England has just recorded the driest June on record with no sign of significant rain in the long-term forecast:

  • Ensure that all equipment has a fire extinguisher on board and all workers are aware of the emergency procedure in case of fire
  • Take extra precautions, have a cultivator ready on a tractor to form fire breaks in stubbles
  • Have a water bowser on standby
  • Take note of the wind direction in case of fire
  • Ensure all workers take the recommended number of fluids and food breaks
  • Stay safe
