Graduate Town Planner / Planning Consultant

We are looking to add Graduate Town Planner / Planning Consultant to our growing team on a full-time permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to progress your career within a recently established planning team. We currently operate on projects predominantly in East Anglia but also have a national coverage.

The Graduate Town Planner / Planning Consultant has responsibility for service levels to Planning clients and will work alongside the team to take forward a diverse portfolio of projects within the rural, residential and commercial sectors.

This role covers many areas of responsibility, including but not limited to the following:

  • Prioritise the management of your client relationships, ensuring they are engaged and receiving a high standard of output at all times
  • Undertake research and site appraisals on projects for our client base.
  • Prepare and submit planning appraisals, applications and appeals, including planning statements.
  • Prepare Local Plan representations
  • Site visits and meeting clients
  • Co-ordinate consultant teams
  • Liaising & negotiating with planning officers
  • Attending planning committee meetings, informal Hearings and Public Inquiries
  • Business development to raise the company profile and generate new income streams both internally and externally
  • Promotion of a range of development proposals

Requirements for the role:

  • RTPI or RICS accredited degree or degree from related discipline.
  • 2-3 years experience in a commercial planning environment
  • Excellent communication – both written and oral – and organisation skills
  • In depth knowledge of planning
  • Desire to provide high quality advice
  • Skilled in maintaining and developing relationships
  • The ability to function both as a supportive, strong team player and a focused individual
  • An aptitude for problem solving and decision making
  • Experience in engaging with clients, consultants and other stakeholders
  • A full clean driving licence with access to own vehicle
  • Ability to use CAD software to produce basic floorplans and elevations would be desirable but not essential
