We’re pleased to share that planning permission has been secured for the expansion of Hall Farm Business Centre, Little Bentley, on behalf of HD Cobbald & Sons Ltd.

The approved scheme supports the continued growth of an established rural employment site, providing a mix of modern office and commercial accommodation within a well-contained countryside location.

The proposal includes the replacement of a redundant agricultural building with a new Class E(g)(i) office unit, alongside the construction of two new commercial buildings for Class B8 (storage and distribution) use.

The scheme has been shaped through a detailed understanding of the site’s context and operational requirements, ensuring it integrates with the existing business centre and surrounding rural landscape.

A range of supporting technical work informed the application, including ecological surveys, arboricultural assessments and a Town Centre Impact Assessment. These demonstrate that the development responds to identified needs without adversely affecting nearby centres, including Manningtree. Importantly, the scheme makes effective use of previously developed land, delivering purpose-built accommodation that cannot easily be provided within more constrained town centre locations.

Overall, the proposals represent a logical and sustainable extension of an existing rural business cluster, supporting local economic growth and improving the quality of accommodation available.
